I love trying new things (classic Enneagram 7)
and after moving to Calgary in 2001 to start university,  yoga was the new thing I wanted to try.

Like many, I was initially drawn to yoga for the physical practice. I quickly realized the transformative power of applying yoga philosophy and principles to my daily life.

My practice has shifted a lot over the years, depending on the state of my body and mind but it has been a constant since my first class.

Yoga has been my medicine and I am humbly grateful for all the teachers I have had both on and off the mat.

We can work together in three ways:

1) Incorporate yoga into counselling sessions

2) Private/semi private yoga sessions virtually, in my office, or in your residence

3) Group and/or corporate sessions

I am currently enrolled to become certified in Trauma Centre Trauma Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY). Click here for more information about TCTSY. Stay tuned for more information as I progress through this training.

FAQs

What is yoga?

Yoga has its origins in India, dating back over 5,000 years, and is deeply intertwined with cultural, spiritual, and philosophical traditions. While yoga is not part of my ancestral heritage as a white woman, I am committed to honoring and respecting its roots as I share the teachings that have been passed to me

Do I have to be flexible to do yoga?

Heck no. Yoga is not about physical flexibility; however sometimes flexibility is a byproduct of practicing asanas (poses). Personally, yoga has had the greatest impact on my mental and emotional health

What would it look like to practice yoga together?

This will look different for each person. We may incorporate 5-10 mins into our counselling session, for some we can do a full yoga session, or anything in between! We will work together to identify your hopes and needs and create a plan that meets you where you are at

Do I have to have experience with yoga to book a session?

Short answer: Nope. I love working with people who are newer to the practice of yoga!

Long answer: I know it can be intimating to try something new (I didn’t start many things until my mid-30s!) Yoga in North America is often portrayed as bending your body into various (impossible?) shapes but there is so much more to yoga practice. Yoga can be for everyBODY

What do I need to bring? What do I wear?

You are welcome to bring your own yoga mat and props. If you do not have them, just let me know and I can provide them. As for clothing, I recommend anything that’s comfortable

If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out

I continue to seek out and engage in learnings to actively decolonize yoga

I am committed to teaching trauma-informed, inclusive, and accessible yoga that cares for the heart, mind, and soul as much as the body.
